Cinevolution Media Arts Society
www.cinevolutionmedia.comFounded in 2007, Cinevolution is the winner of the 2012 Richmond Arts Awards for Artistic Innovation and the Professional Resident Art Group in the Richmond Media Lab. Based on Canada’s beautiful west coast, Cinevolution is a non-profit organization run by an eclectic group of artists, filmmakers, and community activists who share a passion for media arts, critical discourse and intercultural exchange. We seek to increase media literacy, raise social awareness, and build strong communities through film and media art. We focus particularly on experimenting with digital technology as medium for cross-cultural communication in our increasingly globalized world. Our widely attended festival, public screenings and workshops have fostered a renewed sense of social engagement and have empowered diverse communities to share their own stories with the world. Our Mission: - To promote innovation and critical discourse through film and new media art works - To bring new ways of thinking and expression into cross-cultural communication - To encourage new immigrants to express themselves through new media technology - To empower citizens by improving the media literacy of the whole community - To nurture the dialogue and collaboration between different cultures and ethnic groups in Canada and worldwide
