National Institute for Productivity (NIP)
www.niptz.orgNational Institute for Productivity (NIP) was established by the Government of Tanzania as a Management Consultancy, Training and Research institution in 1965 through assistance from UNDP/ ILO and operated as a Government Division up to April, 1974. In May 1974 NIP was reconstituted as a public organization under the Public Corporations Act No. 17 of 1969. NIP is currently under Prime Minister’s Office – Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled. NIP was established with the following objectives:- • To promote productivity improvement in enterprises and organizations and spread productivity consciousness in Tanzania. • To improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of work in the public, private and informal sector organizations through consultancy, research and training. • To improve management skills and know how in an effort to meet existing and future demands of skilled workforce. • To publish and disseminate management literature produced in connection with the work and activities of the Institute. Functions of NIP are:- • Management Training: The Institute provides training to all levels of employees in Government, Public and Private Companies and NGOs in order to enhance labour productivity in such organizations. • Applied Research: - The Institute engages in research in order to foster productivity improvements and also to provide long term solutions for industrial problems. • Management Consulting: - The Institute provides management consultancies in all fields of management including human resources, finance, production, marketing, sales and general management.
