Renaissance Farms
www.renaissance-farms.comSituated on nearly 300 acres of preserved land on the Barre-Oakham border, Renaissance Farms was created from lands belonging to several early farmers. At one time, it was owned by the owner of the Barre Woolen Mill, and was a summer playground for his family and friends, complete with a cricket pitch. More recently, it has been home to dairy cattle and dairy goats, and was also used to grow landscaping trees. It is now home to a growing herd of Oberhasli goats and Icelandic and Shetland Sheep. We also seasonally graze Red Deven cattle for another local farm. We focus on raising animals and crops in support of local restaurants, caterers and our local community at area farmer's markets. More than 3000 black birch trees grow on our farm, and will be tapped to produce birch syrup in addition to the 800 maple trees for maple syrup. We strive toward holistic management of our crops, livestock and open land.
