Communitas America is developing an impact ecosystem in under-resourced communities by focusing on addressing the persistent and systemic lack of access to economic and social opportunities. We are investing in local changemakers, social entrepreneurs and youth leaders through our social impact accelerator and youth leadership programs as well as innovation hub to enact positive changes within the communities. Communitas Ventures Accelerator Program Communitas America is driving social innovation through our Communitas Ventures social impact accelerator program. Communitas Ventures develops local changemakers who are creating a more just, equitable and inclusive Bronx. Our accelerator program provides access for women and changemakers of color thus ensuring that our accelerator is inclusive and truly representative of the Bronx. Communitas America launches 1st Women Founders Cohort in August 2020. Youth Leadership development through Impact Career Communitas America has been building youth leadership talents through our Impact Career program. Impact Career is a social impact internship program implemented in partnership with the Zahn Innovation Center and City College of New York in 2018-2019 summers. The Impact Career program focuses on giving low income youth the opportunity to work during the summer and connects them to social entrepreneurship and a potential career within the social impact field. Impact ecosystem creation through Heyground Innovation Hub Heyground Bronx is envisioned to be a vital center for innovation, entrepreneurship and community that will accelerate the Bronx social startup growth. It will be located at 521 Bergen Avenue in the Bronx and is scheduled to open in early 2021. Heyground will provide a physical space that will make it easier for changemakers and community partners to connect, act as an innovation on-ramp to help tackle social challenges and where impact start-ups can incubate, launch and thrive all together.
