Acorns British Style Nursery was opened in September 2004 as a means of providing top quality early years education and child care for children aged 1 to 6+ years old. Since then, we have branched out into the areas of parent education and staff training (Acorns Training Centre). We believe that children can only develop to their full potential when they feel at ease in their surroundings. To this end we aim to provide a safe, stimulating and happy learning environment. We base our child care provision and teaching on the British model which focuses on developing the whole child and base our learning programmes on what each individual child is able to do. We acknowledge that each child brings with them their own experiences, knowledge of home language and culture. We value these and we actively promote an understanding of each other's backgrounds within the nursery so that our children develop an open mind, preparing them for life as international citizens in an ever-changing world. Acorns British Style Nursery is awarded with Every Child Matters Award and is the first organisation working in education in Romania to be awarded the „Investor in People” standard. Acorns is a member of Council of British International Schools, British Association for Early Childhood Education, National Literacy Trust (Great Britain), National Children's Bureau (Great Britain), Early Years - the organization for young children (Northern Ireland) and affiliated to International British School of Bucharest, Cross Frontier Education.
