Since 1987, St Clare’s Hospice has been providing palliative care to the local community in the South of Tyne area. Based in Jarrow in purpose-built facilities, St Clare's Hospice offer a range of flexible services to patients and their families, following a holistic approach to care which aims to address not only the physical symptoms, but the spiritual, social and emotional needs of the patient too. We provide care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in our 8-bed In-patient Unit, which is used for pain and symptom management, respite care and end of life care. We also offer a Day Care serivce for patients living with life-limiting illnesses. Our facilities enable us to care for up to 15 patients each day and provides people with an opportunity to gain social support whilst having access to our range of services such as Physiotherapy, our Lymphoedema Clinic and Complementary Therapy. We also offer additional support to our patients and their families, such as a Befriending Service to patients who are socially isolated, and a Breavement Counselling Service to families who are struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one. Corporate support is very much valued by St Clare's Hospice and we are always hoping to engage with local businesses and build new relationships with companies across South Tyneside and Gateshead. We have a range of opportunities available for our corporate partners to get involved in, from Hospice initatives to employee fundraising. Our annual running costs are just under £2million and we rely on the generosity of the local community in the South of Tyne to enable us to continue providing care to local people affected by life-limiting illnesses.
