Live Life Unfiltered is a movement designed to remind young women that behind every perfect photo, caption and filter, there’s still a woman with insecurities, bad days and struggles, just like you. Daily we are inundated with picture-perfect photos; adventure, relationships, love and romance, hair, make-up, curves, collarbones, etc. We scroll endlessly, post after post. We forget that there is a story and a life behind each post. It is easy, especially as young women to idolize strangers based upon the poses they choose to share. In no time, we often feel less positive about our own lives, relationships, and bodies. To be clear, Live Life Unfiltered is in no way intending to shame Instagram or its users. We're not against filters, selfies, posting etc. As regular users, we value social media; however, we do feel there is room to improve. Initially, we wanted to address our own social media experiences. We had come to realize that scrolling made us feel less positive about ourselves, especially our bodies. However, we now feel compelled to address the bigger picture, the elephant in the room. It's time for us to get back to relating to one another, rather than comparing ourselves. Live Life Unfiltered is intended to bring balance to our feeds. By posting simple, professional headshots, accompanied by statements that speak truth to the real lives pictured, LLU will remind us there's a story behind each selfie. Exposed to women who, like most of us, battle their own insecurities, disappointments, heartaches, fears, struggles, and frankly joys, LLU aims to help young women (and all) RELATE rather than COMPARE. Live Life Unfiltered is not restricted to our social media profiles. Live Life Unfiltered is a movement for our own well-being; especially that of our younger sisters.
