The Bren School is a graduate school at the University of California, Santa Barbara, offering a Master of Environmental Science & Management degree (MESM), a Master of Environmental Data Science degree (MEDS), and a PhD in Environmental Science and Management. The Bren School is a leading center of environmental research conducted by faculty, PhD students, postdoctoral students, and master's students, particularly as part of the Master's Group Projects (MESM) and Capstone Projects (MEDS) that serves as the thesis for the Master's degrees. Research is pursued in the natural sciences, such as microbiology, ecology and the other environmental sciences; earth sciences, such as hydrology, geography, and geomorphology; political science and law as they relate to the environment; environmental economics and other social sciences, and data science or geo-informatics.
