Financial Life Cycle Education Corp

www.ficycle.org

As a not-for-profit organization that is passionate about financial literacy education, we created a high school course that embeds financial topics into a robust math course, Financial Life Cycle Mathematics. Our research shows that a math-based approach is the more effective way to teach financial literacy as it gives an in-depth, mathematically grounded understanding of personal finance topics. FiCycle is currently being used in 25 schools and is expanding. We have a diverse group of schools: public, chartered and private schools of varying size. Our teachers are dedicated math professionals who believe as we do that grounding financial literacy education in a robust math course will improve students confidence in math and in financial understanding. Our students are 1100 high school seniors spread across the country from a private school in the Bronx to an alternative public high school in California. Our students participate in a survey at the beginning and end of the course to help us improve the course and evaluate its impact. For more information about FiCycle and how you can implement the course in your school, please visit our website at www.ficycle.org.
