Modern science proves that most of modern lifestyle diseases can be prevented and good health can be maintained via healthy diet and regular exercise. We at Venketesh Biosciences believe in food to be used as preventive healthcare. “Nutrition to all” is easier said than done. We have initiated our work by focussing on Omega 3-fatty acids. They are a group of long chain PUFA (Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids) essential throughout human life. They are deemed essential because the human body cannot produce them on its own and are important for various bodily functions such as neural health, cardiovascular health, brain development, retinal development, etc. Consumption of omega 3 fatty acids is very limited in our diet. Mostly Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) supplements are available as softgels/capsules and not as regular fortified food or products that can be consumed without considering them as medicine. We try to develop consumer centric products for supplementing essential nutrients. The commonly available supplements are generally looked at as medicines. They are consumed only after a doctor’s or nutritionist’s advice. Moreover, there is a serious lack of awareness in India regarding preventive benefits of consuming right nutrients. Properties likes taste, smell and origin of the supplement affect decision of an individual to incorporate a particular supplement in diet. Thus, we strive to develop products that is aesthetically appealing to the general population including vegetarians. We have developed a proprietary technique of microencapsulation of DHA oil to produce microencapsulated DHA powder (Swasth DHA). This process increases acceptability and application of DHA to a wide variety of products and nutraceutical formulations.
