York Gin is a small independent distiller of some of the world’s finest gins. It is York's only distillery and was named England Gin Distillery of the Year at the New York International Spirits Competition 2021. The company began as an idea cooked up in one of York’s finest independent pubs, The Swan. A group of friends (and the landlord) decided it was time for the city to have its own gin company. Since its launch in 2018, York Gin has created a range of six gins that have won gold medals at the world's top spirits competitions. The name York Gin is synonymous with the finest quality. Inspired by York’s incredible history and with a desire to make York proud, the York Gin Company launched in 2018 under the motto ‘History in the Tasting’. York's Roman past, its infamous villains and ghosts, and the city's chocolate heritage are just some of the inspirations for our gins. Sustainability and responsibility are at the heart of everything we do. From the outset, the distillery has been powered by 100% green energy. The company’s two vehicles are both emission-free and electric. Moves to reduce our carbon footprint include investing in Yorkshire-made bottles and ensuring our neutral grain spirit is made in Yorkshire from grain that's grown on Yorkshire farms. And from paying the Living Wage to supporting local charities and community groups, York Gin continues to be true to our values of treating the planet, our people, partners and community with the utmost respect and kindness.
