Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad

www.bhvrs.org

The Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad (BHVRS) was established in 1942. 73 years later, we are still proud to serve the citizens of Berkeley Heights and the surrounding towns. In 2014, the BHVRS responded to 840 calls, ranging from the flu to heart attacks to multi-vehicle car crashes on Route 78. The BHVRS is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by volunteers who live and work in the township. On every shift there are two members who hold a valid New Jersey EMT Certification, which requires a class of 180 hours to obtain. Whether you call the Rescue Squad for an adult or child, illness or injury, you can be sure that you are getting at least two experienced medical professionals to take care of you or your loved ones. As a volunteer organization, we never charge for a ride to the hospital or any medical supplies we use. The BHVRS is funded primarily through tax-deductible donations. All donations are used to purchase such items as supplies and equipment and to support the objectives of the Squad. If you are interested in donating to keep the Squad running, please select the Donation link from the menu. The objectives of the BHVRS are: To provide ambulance and emergency medical services to all residents of Berkeley Heights, and to any person requiring such emergency services within the Township of Berkeley Heights. To respond to calls for ambulance assistance in neighboring communities, or when requested by the NJ State Police or the EMS Council of New Jersey. To aid and assist the EMS Council of New Jersey in furthering its work within the state. To achieve our objectives, the BHVRS works closely with the Berkeley Heights Police Department, the Berkeley Heights Fire Department, and rescue squads from surrounding towns. The BHVRS provides mutual aid to New Providence and to Long Hill Township on a regular basis and to other surrounding towns when needed.
