Energy Works Michigan is a non-profit technical resource building foundational capacities for a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future in Michigan. VISION: Energy Works will create a new future for the State of Michigan where every student from Pre-School through the 12th Grade in all 5,000 Public Schools, Charter Academies, and Private Schools will learn and develop the skills necessary to make responsible decisions for the rest of their lives. Through innovative educational programs and installations at school facilities of proven Energy Efficiency Technologies and practical Renewable Energy Systems, Energy Works will lead schools to a sustainable, net-zero energy, and carbon neutral future. BACKGROUND: Energy Works was founded in 2009 as a nonprofit affiliate of the Ecology Center. Energy Works administers the Michigan Renewable Schools Program, a 5-year $8M program funded by the Michigan Public Service Commission. Energy Works provides schools with technical assistance and incentive funds. To date, Energy Works has partnered with 67 public and private K-12 schools and districts throughout the State of Michigan. Energy Works will partner with approximately 90 additional Michigan K-12 schools beginning September 2011.
