After forming in 1997, The Black Seeds have a gold, platinum, and two double-platinum selling albums behind them, as well as a masterful 8-piece live show that has seen them perform at many of the biggest festivals throughout New Zealand, Australia and Europe. After signing record deals with European labels Sonar Kollektiv and Rough Trade Netherlands in 2007, The Black Seeds successfully released their 3rd album Into the Dojo in Europe in July 07 to critical acclaim and strong airplay, followed by their third European tour in the summer 2007. In 2008 The Black Seeds released their anticipated 4th studio album 'Solid Ground' in NZ, Europe & Australia. The release was supported by sell-out NZ & Australian tours, and two successful European tours which included standout performances at festivals such as Roskilde, The Lovebox Weekender, Garrance, Summerjam, and many more. In 2009 'Solid Ground' was released in North America on Easy Star Records. The release coincided an 11 city US tour from NYC to LA. The Black Seeds also performed live on NPR's "World Cafe".
