The KOM CPC works in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department to promote community safety and crime prevention. Our services range from volunteer patrols to property theft prevention to outreach and advice provided at community events, as well as providing access to contacts within the VPD. Business owners can arrange meetings with our Neighbourhood Police Officer to discuss 'target-hardening' initiatives to protect their property, as well as issues pertaining to the safety of their business and customers. Our organization is run by a small staff who manage nearly 100 volunteers. Volunteers are meticulously screened through an interview process, as well as a background criminal check. We emphasize community engagement, ensuring all volunteers are personable, friendly and can work fluidly in a team setting. Many volunteers will go on to be employed by law-enforcement agencies.
