Founded in 1993, Boston Rock Opera presented rock operas and evenings dedicated to album tributes, narrative song, song cycles, conceptual rock performance and works in progress. While perhaps best known for its cult presentations of Jesus Christ Superstar, Boston Rock Opera also presented theatrical premieres of the the Kinks’ Ray Davies’ Preservation, The Pretty Things’ S. F. Sorrow and Harry Nilsson's rock fable The Point! Whether through a full blown theatrical production or a nightclub event BRO’s goal was and is to explore the joy of combining the power and risk of rock and roll with the challenge of great storytelling.
