The University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) is an alliance of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen. With 120,000 students, an annual budget of 1.2 billion and cutting-edge research facilities, UA Ruhr represents one of the largest and most innovative research locations in Germany. Our liaison office in New York supports and facilitates academic collaborations between the three Ruhr Universities and partners in the United States and Canada.The aim of our alliance is to bundle our skills into overlapping research strongholds, share infrastructure, create common research platforms, and promote the Ruhr as a defining region of research & training excellence. We are transformers: As Europe’s former experts in steel and coal, we are now leaders in energy and engineering science as well as in materials science, nanotech, transport logistics and IT. Located in a former immigration heartland, our alliance is an open channel for students and researchers from around the world.
