When the opportunity to purchase a much neglected truck wash on land in Lavington New South Wales with close proximity to the Hume Highway came along, Darren Kirkpatrick could see the potential. As General Manager of Transport Wash Systems Australia, Darren knows a few things about automated heavy vehicle washing. Darren tapped into the engineering knowledge at TWS and after months of demolition, cleaning and restoration The Wash Inn was opened. We decided to call this new style of wash the hybrid truck wash system as it represents a balanced combination automation with hand washing. A Tammermatic Rainbow Ultima Vee Spray Automatic Truck Washing System was sourced from Finland, this system is the first from Tammermatic to be installed in Australia and the third from the manufacturer operating in this region. This is the all new hybrid wash recipe we offer at The Wash Inn: The driver slowly drives through the chemical arch which sprays lightly heated low alkaline (no streaking) chemical onto the vehicle As the vehicle proceeds forward two underbody Centri Spinners turn on and hit the chassis of the vehicle (this is standard with all our washes) The vehicle keeps moving forward until it reaches the gantry red light, guided by our detailers The usual recipe for line haul vehicles is a single pass of high volume water which includes 4 Centri Spinners hitting the wheel area @ 300 psi to loosen grit and grime Next is 2 passes of our brush module to the sides of the trailers and 1 pass with our top brush using a lubricating shampoo While the machine is at work our detailers are washing the wheels, prime mover and anywhere else the brushes cannot get to While the machine is at work our detailers are: – washing the chassis and mud flaps – washing all the wheels – hand washing the Prime Movers inclusive of all mirrors and windscreen – washing the stacks – lastly, our detailers are washing in all other nooks and crannies where the brushes cannot get to. The final step is a drive through fresh water rinse The Wash Inn offers an additional “Big Boy” chassis wash. This system runs at 1200 L/pm but also at 300 psi. It’s all about flooding the chassis with water instead of high pressure for mud removal. The “Big Boy” is perfect for garbage truck operators, haulage operators and prime movers going over the pits. The Wash Inn has flexible account options, including credit card payments available for customers ranging from solo operators through to large fleet owners(Sorry No Cash).
