Mangueira is by far the most popular samba-school in Brazil, and according to a few researches, it has an instant memory recall by the Brazilian population of 85%, when asked to name a samba-school. Mangueira, who´s history is attached to legendary composer and founder Cartola, also proved to be not only poetic but efficient, winning 18 Carnival Championships since 1932, presenting memorable carnival parades like in 1984, with the theme-plot “Yes, Nós Temos Braguinha” and anthological “Carnaval de todos os tempos”. Estação Primeira de Mangueira, whose colors is green and pink (inspired by soccer team Fluminense from Rio), also has the largest samba rehearsal in Brazil, with about 8,000 people every Saturday.
