www.ariespace.com

ARIESPACE is a small-sized enterprise (SME), established in the year 2006 as the first spin-off company of the University of Naples “Federico II. ARIESPACE provides ready-to-use and user-friendly Decision Support Systems (DSS) based on satellite observations, geospatial data and biophysical models. Our aim is to feel the gap between currently availability geospatial tools and quantitative information needed to people working in field. The experience to carry out our tasks has been developed and applied in different contexts. For instance, we developed an operative processing chain to estimate crop water requirements and a web-tool dedicated to farmers, associations and water authorities in the context of the IRRISAT project (http://www.irrisat.i). An operative example of integration of web interface, geospatial data and process model was developed in the “Agroscenari” project, in which different climatic scenarios, crops, soil data and meteorological inputs are used to run SWAP code (http://www.swap.alterra.nl) for climate change impact simulation on crop systems. The approach developed in Mediterranean regions was also transferred to other arid and semi-arid agricultural systems, as for instance in Southern Australia (http://www.irrieye.com). Our experience has been established and consolidated in the context of in various national and international projects funded by EU (FP6, FP7) and LIFE+, the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and Campania Regional Government and public irrigation water user associations (Consortia).
