ESCAP+AID, founded by Ben Robinson, 23, a masters mechanical engineer, adventurer and social entrepreneur, is all about living life on the edge of your comfort zone, building sustainable businesses that benefit other people and changing percep- tions of International Development. Half the global population lives on less that $2.50 a day, 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty - less than $1.25 per day - that needs to change. Working with local people and organisations, ESCAP+AID Invents and implements needs-driven tools and micro-businesses to alleviate poverty through micro-economic development, leveraging a sustainable future for all. These small micro-businesses are built on innovative, appropriate technology solutions. This means simple, locally-made and maintained technologies solving everyday problems. Successful examples in Nepal include; creating local entrepreneurship using cookstoves invented by the ESCAP+AID team; building earthquake-proof, low-cost, high quality housing using recycled plastic bottles. These businesses create multi-level impact through the entire value chain: design, manufacture, distribution to the final user. THINK BIG, ACT LOCAL, IMPACT MANY Interested? Get in touch.
