www.bedrockradio.org.ukBedrock Radio is a community hospital radio station serving Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust (Queen's & King George Hospitals) and North East London Foundation Trust (Goodmayes Hospital), plus the local community. Bedrock was established in 2002 following the merge of Harold Wood Hospital Radio & Oldchruch Radio (formally; Radio 174 / Rush Green Radio). In 2016 Goodmayes Hospital Radio Association (The Jumbo Sound) merged with Bedrock following water damage to the Goodmayes studio. The charitable objective is to; provide relief of sickness, poor health & old age by providing a local broadcasting service, plus the advancement and promotion of health & positive of good mental health. Broadcasting throughout the BHRUT & NELFT Hospitals sites plus online & mobile, Bedrock Radio provides entertainment and befriending service to patients in the hospital whilst additionally promoting a healthy lifestyle to local people and outpatients within London Boroughs of Havering, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham plus the surrounding areas. Operating two free health radio services; Bedrock Radio: With studios located at Queen's Hospital, Romford, On-Air you'll hear local news, events listings, interviews, news and a Healthy Music Mix from the 80's to today. Bedrock Gold: Playing 'Classic Hits' from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and featuring Rock & Roll, Country, Jazz, Radio Dramas, News updates and more to invoke ‘Great Memories’ from yesteryear. In addition to the radio service, Bedrock Radio also provide a mobile library / book shop ‘Bedrock Books’ to the wards of Queen's Hospital to provide an alternative form of entertainment to in-patients and staff. Approximately 30 volunteers are involved, with Trustees overseeing the day-to-day running. Volunteers are always needed, please contact us directly if interested. The stations can be heard throughout the Hospitals, plus on-line and on mobile through our App.
