Founded in 2001, Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service creates innovative transportation solutions for communities and healthcare systems throughout the greater-Atlanta area, provides 9-1-1 emergency ambulance service to Cobb and Paulding counties and delivers logistical coordination and a high quality continuum of care during the transfer of medical patients throughout local healthcare systems in the area. Metro Atlanta Ambulance also provides Mobile Integrated Health Care, Disaster Response , Event Medical Services and Non-Ambulance Medical Transportation. Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service serves as the EMS coordinating entity for the evacuation of vulnerable populations for the Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency; as the Communication Center for the Infectious Disease Transport Network (IDTN) for the Georgia Office of EMS & Trauma; and as the EMS Coordinating provider for the National Disaster Management System-Team Atlanta through the U.S. Department of Public Health and Emergency Preparedness. Metro Atlanta Ambulance offers EMT, AEMT and Paramedic courses through the Metro Atlanta EMS Academy, a consortium with Kennesaw State University-WellStar School of Nursing. Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
