The Great Lakes Loons are the High-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and members of the Midwest League. On June 2, 2006, the Michigan Baseball Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, finalized the purchase agreement of the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays, paving the way for the team to be relocated to Midland, MI. Centrally located in downtown Midland, beautiful Dow Diamond has been the home of the Loons since the inaugural game on April 13, 2007. Dow Diamond has established itself as one of the premier minor league stadiums in the country, earning several awards in the process. The Michigan Baseball Foundation was established to bring affordable, family-friendly entertainment to Mid-Michigan. Through the Great Lakes Loons and Dow Diamond, MBF aims to revitalize and reinvigorate the region and promote greater economic and civic prosperity. MBF, in accordance with the IRS, formed for the purpose of supporting regional youth organizations. The foundation received initial funding from the Dow Corning Corporation, The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, The Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation, The Charles J. Strosacker Foundation, and The Bill and Linda Stavropoulos Foundation. ESPN 100.9-FM is the radio flagship home of the Great Lakes Loons. The station was purchased by the Loons organization on March 25, 2008. MBF helped finance the purchase and funded the construction of the radio studio in the Dow Diamond press box, overlooking the baseball field, which was completed in January 2009.
