AUTHENTIC DESIGN ALLIANCE® is a Social Enterprise that promotes the value of investing in original furnishing products & brands in the fight to stop design theft! Established in 2010 by Living Edge, Cult, Euroluce, Kezu and Stylecraft, the ADA was relaunched by a new team in 2016 during vivid Sydney, supported by Good Design Australia. We exist to support the furnishing sector - designers, manufacturers, distributors, importers & retailers of authentic products, advocating for radically improved Intellectual Property (IP) protection. By collaborating with ADA members & affiliates, we develop strategies that promote and encourage industry best practice, and endorse the specification of authentic products, accessories and materials on residential, hospitality and commercial building projects. The ADA® has been in consultation with various Federal Government departments since relaunching in 2016. Engagements include submissions and appearances with the Productivity Commission into Intellectual Property (PCIP 2016-2018), IP Australia consultation during the 2-year Designs Review into Australian Design Rights (2019-2021); and DFAT re Free Trade Agreements EU/UK. Whilst design rights are presently on the path to a meaningful overhaul, unlike other creative disciplines like music, film, music, literature, art, photography and architecture, Australia has no automatic copyright protection for industrial designs. Our mission is that copyright protection should automatically & freely apply to 3-dimensional objects such as furnishings. Support our advocacy & education by becoming an ADA® Member.
