The Uphill Trust is a small international development charity supporting grassroots education in rural western Uganda. We have helped Uphill Junior School to provide a safe place to learn, retain a staff of motivated teachers, provided access to clean water and sanitation, and much more. All children who want to go to school are welcomed, and the education of girls is actively encouraged. Many of the Uphill pupils are from humble homes and a significant number are orphans or from child-led households. For many of the children a primary education is all they will get - so it needs to be good! We are a volunteer-led organisation and we operate on a zero-overhead basis - 100% of fundraising supports projects at the school.
