North Dakotas Gateway to Science

www.gatewaytoscience.org

Gateway to Science Center, Inc. inspires the discovery of science through hands-on experiences. Gateway to Science began as the vision of community volunteers passionate about bringing informal science learning opportunities to people of all ages in North Dakota. In November 1994, Bismarck became the home of the first and only hands-on science center in North Dakota. Since that time, we have established a reputation as an educational resource for our community, region, and state. Significant growth in the state of North Dakota and an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in education and the workforce are driving increased demand for our services. To meet these community needs, Gateway to Science plans to build a stand-alone facility with state-of-the-art exhibits and expanded educational outreach programming for students, educators and the general public. The new Gateway to Science center will overlook the Missouri River to the west and will be visible from I-94. The new Gateway to Science center will be located at 1600 Canary Avenue, across from the MDU Resources Community Bowl. Exhibit development for the new center is underway. We are working with the Science Museum of Minnesota in developing exhibit prototypes for the new building. A variety of prototypes are currently featured in our gallery. Groundbreaking for the new science center will take place in 2019.
