Holden Street Theatres was established in 2002 by Artistic Director and co-founder Martha Lott. With the aim to both provide a platform for world-class international theatre during the Adelaide Fringe, and to allow local South Australian theatre companies to devise, develop, and perform their work, HST has become the 'Home of Theatre' here in Adelaide. With our venue for hire year-round, and our Adelaide Fringe program known as the strongest in the festival, HST are proud to present a diverse range of work in the South Australian arts industry. Touring work from around Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, and Russia, it's easy to see why Holden Street is the premier destination for theatre in Adelaide. HST also support new work by the presentation of two awards in two key arts industry marketplaces: the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Our 'Holden Street Theatres' Edinburgh Fringe Award' provides the opportunity for a company presenting at the Edinburgh Fringe to perform at Holden Street in the following Adelaide Fringe. A range of supports are provided throughout the company's time here in Adelaide, including marketing, production, publicity, technical, and artist liaison. The 'Holden Street Theatres' Adelaide Fringe Award' provides an opportunity for a local theatre company in the Adelaide Fringe to have up to four weeks' rental in HST, as well as a number of supports throughout their time at the venue. This rental can be used throughout the year, or during the next Adelaide Fringe season. We pride ourselves on supporting a diverse range of talent from around the world and strive to support our local arts industry however we can.
