Sheffield Chamber Players
www.sheffieldchamberplayers.orgSheffield Chamber Players is dedicated to performing great works of chamber music in the intimate spaces that help them come alive. SCP pairs performances from their diverse repertoire of chamber music with musically illustrated talks - crafted to give insights into their artistic interpretation, provide historical context, and allow the audience to delve more deeply into the world of each work. While SCP enjoy playing in concert halls from time to time, the primary mission of the group is to give performances in private homes and similar settings - harkening back to the popular 19th century Salon concerts or “musicales” for which so many great works of chamber music were written. These concerts stimulated the creativity and fed the spirits of writers, artists, composers, dancers, musicians, and audiences alike. We believe they hold the same power today. The members of Sheffield Chamber Players have performed extensively in the leading concert halls of North America, Europe and Asia, such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Wigmore Hall, Merkin Hall, Buckingham Palace, Jordan Hall, the National Cathedral, and the Mozarteum. Each member of the group has developed a varied career that includes appearances as soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Their performances have included collaborations with many of today’s leading artists, composers and conductors, with performances for royalty, heads of state, and other notable figures.
