Our aim is to provide frontline healthcare workers with a contingency for when PPE supply does not meet demand. We are also actively campaigning better PPE provision and policies for frontline staff through research and advocacy. We founded initially through realising in the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic that large numbers of industries and businesses have PPE that is not urgently needed during the COVID crisis (e.g. Research labs, Construction companies, Beauty industry, TV and film production, Electronics/machinery manufacturers and more). We actively approached these organisations/businesses to donate their PPE to frontline healthcare staff. Through our dedicated team of trained volunteers, we helped coordinate the collection, sorting and redistribution of over 280,000 PPE items to 500 health and social care establishments to date. We are also responding to appeals from frontline healthcare providers who lack PPE so that we can help them get hold of what they need. We are not in competition with NHS supply chains and it is not our purpose to undermine them. Additionally, we realised that our frontline workers need to be better protected during this pandemic. In the UK, deaths from COVID-19 amongst healthcare workers is the highest in Europe, and third highest in the world. We are actively researching into the reasons behind this and are strongly advocating for better PPE provisions and policies for frontline staff who are battling this novel coronavirus.
