We are a bridging service that helps bridge the gap and address the lack of engagement in accessing appropriate treatment and care services. We work in the heart of these communities to make it easier for people to come forward and engage with our service. Organisation Aim’s & Objectives • To advance health by establishing a community-based counselling, advice and support centre offering a dedicated, professional accessible support and guidance to those with addictions or their families primarily aimed at minority communities; • To provide a social support service for the relief of those in need to assist with recovery from addiction; • To advance education by raising awareness of alcohol, drugs and gambling issues and educate about addiction and related issues and providing support to existing services through training and adopting strategies for recognising and screening for addiction issues; • To promote equality and diversity by supporting and aiming to eradicate cultural barriers through the delivery of these services. Activities • Deliver an outreach service - Prevention, Harm Reduction, and Recovery Support Programs • Deliver a tailored one-one support service and family mediation. • Work in partnership with statutory organisation for ongoing referral routes and signposting. • Volunteer led community engagement events and activities to promote inclusion. MCASS are committed to raising awareness of the complex challenges faced within BME communities relating to issues of addiction. We believe that the work we do helps to reduce stigma and empowers individuals and families to have a deeper understanding of addiction and the ways in which they can access more mainstream help and support.
