CHAT (Culture of Health-Advancing Together)
www.chattx.orgCHAT (Culture of Health – Advancing Together) is working to empower the immigrant and refugee women and youth in Houston through education and social services. CHAT volunteers will help them assimilate in American society. Beyond that, they will learn about healthy living, as well as how to become more connected with their new society. Connection to the volunteer teachers will serve as a cultural exchange and will relieve the isolation of living in a country with very different traditions and way of life. Interacting with people of other cultures will build their self-confidence and will enable them to live a healthy life with minimal stress and may also help in reducing the burden of stress related chronic diseases.
