In the Jatpur village of Tala upazila, Satkhira district, Uttaran first commenced its development in the year 1985 to uphold the rights of the underprivileged. Uttaran means ‘transition’ in Bangla. We are a people-centric organization aiming to utilize the existing rights of the people and use that as the basis for our approach in our work to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower underprivileged communities.
