Retrofit Baltimore, a project of the Baltimore non-profit Civic Works, is working to create green jobs through community organizing. Our mission is to create green career opportunities for underserved Baltimore residents. The project does this by using innovative community organizing tactics to grow the demand for home energy improvements. Leveraging this demand, Retrofit Baltimore then connects homeowners with contractors that have agreed to implement equitable hiring and employment standards, as well as green and healthy homes work practice standards. At its core, Retrofit Baltimore brings communities together and helps them ensure that their home energy investments create jobs for the Baltimore residents who need them the most.
