The first hotel, the Hotel Welcome Inn, opened in Kloten in 1973. This is the origin of today's welcome hotels company, which was founded in 2002 with headquarters in Kloten. The Swiss company is owned by private shareholders and operates hotels, restaurants, and serviced apartments. These are run by Gaho AG under the umbrella brand welcome hotels and are distributed among the brands Swiss Urban Style Hotels, Budget Style Hotels, and welcome homes. Throughout the group, around 100 employees work for welcome hotels.
