Air pollution is a global health crisis and economic burden, with 9 out of 10 people breathing air that exceeds World Health Organisation limits. However, while the catastrophic impact of poor air quality is widely known, the problem hasn’t yet been suitably addressed. This is a danger to the millions of people around the world who live with health issues that can be exacerbated by air pollution, as well as workers whose places of work generate air pollutants. This insight led to the creation of Masuku more than four years ago. Since 2016, the Masuku team has been obsessively developing a sophisticated air filtration product that people can truly rely on for breathing the purest and safest air possible. Masuku One, the signature product from Masuku, is the result of an ambitious vision to design a reusable face mask that is unequalled in sustainable filtration performance, comfortable breathability and will offer superior protection from dangerous particles in the air. The core of Masuku’s groundbreaking manufacturing technologies is a new kind of electrospinning process that is able to create a structured filtration membrane consisting of extremely fine nano-fibres (up to 1,000 times narrower than a human hair), dispersed with extreme precision for maximum efficiency. Masuku’s revolutionary nano-fibre filtration material is produced on site at the company’s AirLab in Hellaby, Rotherham, a centre of excellence for sustainable filtration technology. Assembly of Masuku One and production of Masuku Daily products will also take place in the north of England. In addition to this a substantial investment has been committed to ongoing research and development, Masuku will partner with globally renowned institutions and organisations to develop future generations of high-tech sustainable filtration devices.
