Located at Wigram in Christchurch, the Museum occupies what remains of RNZAF Base Wigram, and is housed in many of the original late 1930's buildings that remained following the closure of the base in 1995. Wigram was also the location of the Canterbury Flying School where New Zealand pilots were trained for active service in Europe with the Royal Flying Corps during World War One. The Museum's collections range from aircraft, vehicles and weapons, through to uniform, memorabilia and an extensive document and photographic archive. Its mission is to preserve and present the history of New Zealand military aviation for commemoration, inspiration, learning and enjoyment.
