www.soc.mil

The US Army and widely known "Special Operations University" offers 41 unique courses to recruit, assess, select, train, and educate US Army Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations, Army Special Forces, Special Mission Units, and sister branches (Naval Special Warfare, Marine Special Operations, Air Force Special Warfare) by providing training, education, doctrine, career management, and a force-development capability. Born out of World War II's Office of Strategic Services (OSS), SWCS was founded in 1950, as the US Army Psychological Warfare Center & School (PSYWAR), and eventually renamed to it's current US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS) in 1985. SWCS now serves as the center for research & development and training of advanced special-operations skills, techniques, tactics, and procedures including special operations intelligence courses, special operations medical courses, regional & governance studies, special operations language courses, leadership development, military freefall, combat diver and sniper training courses for US Army Special Operations Forces (SOF) and all other SOF components (MARSOC, NSW, JSOC, AFSOC). Special operations forces (SOF) training is grounded in the SOF Truths: •Humans are more important than hardware. •Quality is better than quantity. •Special-operations forces cannot be mass-produced. •Most special operations require non-SOF support. •Competent special-operations forces cannot be created after emergencies occur.
