Mareena is a non-profit organisation providing integration services to foreigners living in Slovakia, encouraging social interaction between foreigners and locals and bringing the topics of cultural diversity to the public. EDUCATION AND SOCIAL ORIENTATION + From assisting refugees with integration into local communities to catering to the needs of expats, we provide services helping foreigners get a grasp of the new environment, integrate into the local society and become its active part. COMMUNITY SUPPORT + Through informal education to community events, we foster social bridging, knowledge exchange, and allow both locals and foreigners to take an active role in our language courses, mentoring, and events helping them get to know each other. AWARENESS RAISING + Schools, companies, and the general public are all becoming an integral part of discussions on diversity, equity, and hate-speech. To help them find a way in all the information available and look at inclusion from new perspectives, we facilitate educational workshops and run year-long campaigns bringing new insights, tools, and innovative advocacy approaches. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT + Designed to support community integration of refugees, Mareena runs a volunteer programme that engages thoroughly selected, trained and supervised local volunteers who help refugees overcome initial challenges and make informed decisions about life in a new environment. APPLIED RESEARCH + We partner with local and international researchers to thoroughly understand the existing state of play and test innovative interventions strengthening social cohesion. Focusing on implementing evidence-based solutions, our goal is to increase our social impact and share relevant outcomes with other stakeholders.
