The Brandcenter master's program, part of Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Business, has been recognized by Creativity Magazine, the 4A's, Ad Age and BusinessWeek as a top graduate program in advertising, marketing, digital media, and design and business. The Brandcenter is known within the advertising industry for its rigor, and the students who graduate from the program earn valuable real life experience to develop brands on a global scale. The Brandcenter is more than a portfolio school, as it offers students a Master’s of Science in Business to complement the portfolio they create. The program allows students to choose one of five different concentrations: Art Direction, Copywriting, Creative Brand Management, Experience Design, or Strategy. The students study within their given concentration for roughly 2/3 of their classes. For the remaining 1/3 of the instruction, all concentrations work together to solve business problems creatively, develop campaigns and present their work to faculty and real world clients. Students get internships over the summer, and in their second year they meet and discuss their work with over 250 recruiters from top agencies and companies who attend the annual Recruiter Session.
