Story Waypoints
www.storywaypoints.comYour Family Stories are invaluable. Start capturing them today, before they are gone forever. Sitting with one of your family storytellers to capture some memories may well be one of the most important time investments you have not made, but must. I created Story Waypoints to educate, guide and help families preserve their stories, their heritage. My wish for you is that you also experience the joys of capturing your family stories. We are on a mission to help you rediscover, preserve and share your most meaningful family stories. Go gather, tell stories, record them and share them with your family and community. My name is Humberto Ribera. I’m a dad of 4 and have been married to my soulmate for over 24 years. I grew up in a large, tight-knit family. And for the last 40 years we have gathered at my grandmother’s almost every Sunday afternoon to share a meal. These incredibly large family gatherings (+50 adults/kids) have provided countless opportunities for sharing stories. I keep and hold onto several childhood memories as treasures. And maybe so do you. Mine are mostly brief and random snippets of happy moments. “How do you do, how do you do?” my grandpa would call out loudly when he arrived home. He knew the grandkids were visiting and this was his gathering call! As we all cheered and ran around him in circles, his huge hands (in my young eyes) would reach into his giant pockets and pull out candy; all kinds of candy. I must have been 5 or 6 years old. His booming, kind and happy voice still rings in my ears even after more than 35 years. So many stories, so many beloved family storytellers. How I wish I’d known to record the stories they told over and over; their laughter, their kindness - before their voices went quiet. Don’t wait. Story Waypoints is my way of paying it forward to the younger generations. They will soon cherish those words, those recordings as their most valuable link to the generations upon whose legacy they are now building.
