The MAD Museum

www.themadmuseum.co.uk

The MAD (Mechanical Art & Design) Museum showcases Kinetic Art and Automata. Launched in March 2012 in Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire. The MAD Museum is the brainchild of Richard Simmons, a local business entrepreneur with an eye for the unusual. He has always had an interest in mechanical objects and moving art. Richard decided to make his life-long dream a reality by opening a museum to display an exciting range of wonderful and interesting pieces. In order to ensure the success of the museum, Richard brought in his son Iain Simmons and nephew Mike Abbotts and together they run the team and operations. The museum is the only permanent exhibition of its kind in the UK and as such has attracted artists from all over the world who are interested in showcasing their work. The MAD Museum holds over 100 pieces; both large and small with two floors full of far-fetched designs and quirky contraptions. It offers a highly interactive experience but it also interests those who are fascinated by physics, design and engineering.
