Did you know that your sex and gender impacts the quality of your health in Canada? No matter what point in your life, your sex and gender is always going to impact the health services you receive, how well your voice is heard, and even how your primary care provider is most likely to manage your pain. Women and trans folks experience poorer physical & mental health and more chronic conditions than do men. At the VWHC we work to advance health equity for women and trans folks by offering free, low-barrier access to mental health services, a community NP clinic, free naturopathic and holistic health services, and a trauma-informed respite space for all self-identifying women and non-binary folks. Creating easily accessible and safe services is the first step towards driving impactful change for those who experience health inequities and gender-based violence in healthcare.
