www.advocates.amGeneral information The Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia is an independent, professional, self –governed, non-profit organization. The bodies of the Chamber of Advocates are the following: The General Meeting of the Chamber of Advocates The Board of the Chamber of Advocates (consisting of 12 members and the Chairman) The qualification commission (consisting of 8 members) Advocate (from latin word-advocatus, the origin is advoco from the word I invite) is a person who has a Bachelor’s degree in law or a qualification of degreed specialist of a lawyer and has obtained license to practice advocacy. In order to get a license the lawyer must take the qualification exams after completing the course at the School of Advocates. The qualification exams are organized by the qualification commission of the Chamber. Advocacy is an activity dedicated to protect human rights. It is provided by the advocate engaged in the implementation and defense of the rights, freedoms and interests of a person getting legal support with all measures and methods not prohibited by law. Officially, there are 1958 advocates in RA since 20 June, 2018. Female advocates are 43 percent of the total number of advocates. Guarantees, which are defined by international documents and laws, allow the advocates to protect the rights of their clients, fearlessly.
