Across the US, people are meeting the urgent needs of their neighbors—before, while, and after they experience crises—without involving police. We want to nurture this new world being built—a world that responds to conflict and need with care, not violence. That’s why we’re developing technology, organizing people, & gathering data—to spark and sustain community crisis care nationwide. We’re building and testing Patch—a free, HIPAA-compliant response management app that allows community responders/non-police responders to dispatch care, prevent police escalation, and securely store and analyze response data. We’re convening and expanding The PATCH Network— an unprecedented nationwide network of more than 50 mobile crisis teams, healthcare providers, and social services working together to create new standards and training opportunities for high quality care delivery. And we’re changing the narrative around community safety on the ground and online—by conducting research and amplifying stories of people creating real safety outside of the carceral system.
