Intro is known as an innovative production house for contemporary music performances. Also it serves as an importan stage for (young) pioneers in music and performing arts Production house. Productions in which all possible influences of (modern) musical styles – Jazz, Pop, Wind music, and even from Gregorian chant to Heavy Metal – are to be found and in which adventurous crossovers are never left out. Intro has a special interest in talented young artists/makers who are at the beginning of their career. Workshop Intro’s own workshop offers room for experimentation and immersion. Productions form the link between research and performance praxis. The workshop is also used as a stage that is open to the public. In this capacity it performs a vital role in talent development and creating a dialogue with the general public. The workshop provides a platform for selective and relevant programming, in which a cross-section of music situated on the outskirts of contemporary styles is presented. The stage is part of a non-institutionalised circuit of experimental stages in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). Network Intro is a typical networking organisation always looking for shared responsibility between partners and reinforcing each others’ specialties. Intro’s role in this is one of:” initiating, guiding and (co-) producing joiner between supply and demand. Intro works (inter) nationally but also has a strong regional influence, not only through its connection with institutes concerned with Art-Education in Maastricht, but also through partnerships with many local art-institutions and amateur ensembles. Intro receives structural subsidies from ‘Gemeente Maastricht‘ and ‘Provincie Limburg‘. For the concertseries Intro receives incidental subsidy from ‘Fonds Podiumkunsten‘.
