Vision Restoration International is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that was established in 2018. We are Incorporated in the State of Colorado. We are a Global Medical Outreach organization that focuses on the specialty of Ophthalmology. Our Mission is to support and conduct non-partisan missions, education, and informational activities to increase knowledge and surgical skill of ophthalmologists in developing nations. We strive to combat the lack of health care in developing nations by providing free Ophthalmic surgical procedures to individuals in developing nations and those effected by homelessness in the State of Colorado. We specialize in providing free cataract surgery to those affected by cataracts in developing nations. Cataracts are a debilitating disease and they can cause total blindness if they are not addressed. Luckily, thanks to modern medicine, the condition is curable with high success rates. However, without access to healthcare this condition will not resolve on its own. There are 37 million blind people in the world and 161 million visually impaired individuals in the world. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the world. In developing nations, visually impaired individuals and their families face many obstacles, including social, economic, and inter-familial. This disease is debilitating both emotionally and physically for these individuals who cannot seek help. Men, Woman, and Children are suffering in developing nations, we have seen it first hand and experienced the atrocities of it, and they need a saving grace. We are that saving grace. The impact for patients in the developing world is tremendous. Cataract surgery performed for a family’s primary economic provider can mean the difference between life and death for entire families.
