Proyecto Florecer offers women in vulnerable situations the opportunity to alter the direction of their life through education and community service. We disrupt cycles of poverty and limiting beliefs by teaching self-sufficiency and leadership. Our vision is to provide a sustainable model for building community and empower women with the tools, skills and confidence to develop into the leaders of today and tomorrow. (Español abajo) Proyecto Florecer is an organization that empowers young women in Latin America to become self-sufficient, confident and socially conscious leaders of their community. We provide leadership, training and logistical and financial support for community kitchens throughout the city of Medellin. The kitchens are managed by Colombian, Venezuelan and international volunteers who are dedicated to ensuring food security to communities in need. Our workshops for offer a balance of emotional, practical, and technical learning that teen girls and women can immediately implement in their lives in small, measurable steps. All of our workshops include soft skills needed to be competitive and employable and that are transferable across all careers and disciplines. In addition, Proyecto Florecer provides vocational training and certification programs in sewing, hospitality, and entrepreneurship, as well as English classes and a microlending program.
