Aquaverde is a Swiss non-profit association. Mission - To protect the world’s rainforest from destruction and promote solutions integrating sustainable environmental management and human development, with respect for the culture and dignity of the indigenous People’s. Goal - Aquaverde’s goal is that the majority of the indigenous peoples of the Brazilian Amazon will see the benefits of the reforestation, education and economic programmes, witness the sustainability and profitability of this path demonstrated by the Surui and will have embark on a similar direction convinced that there is a viable, economic and culturally acceptable alternative to logging and other destructive practices. Activities - Aquaverde supports the Surui and other tribes, through advocacy, capacity building and funding in order to: Protect their existing rainforest and the environment of the indigenous territories Build sustainable local economies around the reforestation activities Ensure educational and leadership development to help preserve their culture and defend their rights.
