WHAT We are an art and cultural platform founded in 2015 by a group of artist’s collectives in Jakarta, located at Gudang Sarinah warehouse, Pancoran, South Jakarta. It is a cross-disciplinary space that aims to maintain, cultivate, and establish an integrated support system for creative talents, communities, and various institutions. It also aspires to be able to make connections and collaborate, to exchange knowledge and ideas, as well as to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and innovations. The results of these joint collaborations will be open for public access—and presented with various exhibitions, festivals, workshops, discussions, film screenings, music concerts, and publications of journals. WHY In the midst of increasingly contested areas in Jakarta, the physical space for creative potentials to gather and grow is increasingly scarce. This is the main reason why we are setting up this platform. A place that connects dialogues and multidisciplinary cooperation, where citizens and creators gather—driven by the desire to work, to learn together, and to create amazing things! WHO RURU Corps is a communication bureau founded in 2011 by three arts organizations in Jakarta, namely ruangrupa (ruangrupa.org), Forum Lenteng (forumlenteng.org) and SERRUM (serum.id).
